First Impression: Maybelline Color Whispers

Price: At my local Walmart, the new Color Whispers were significantly cheaper than the popular Revlon Lip Butters. By a $2 difference, it seems like the Color Whispers reign supreme in this category.

Formula:I wore Rose of Attraction for a good 3 hours. I didn’t feel like this wasn’t as moisturizing as the Revlon Lip Butters. The consistency was much more sheer like Maybelline Baby Lips. It was more of a tinted lipbalm than lipstick to me.

Appearance Wise:It gives off a sheer color which is great when you’re aiming for that barely-there look or when you’re bumming it out. It was much more glossier than the Lip Butters, but, it did however go into fine lines.

Overall, I think this is a really good product for the price value. Not all lipsticks have to be extremely pigmented. With the help of some creamier lip balms, the wear will probably be longer and fine lines won’t appear.

January Favorites 2013

E.l.f. Blush and Contouring Duo. Not only are these dupes for Orgasm and Laguna , but these are really good products as well. Even though it’s a little powdery, I find myself using it a few times a week.

Benefit Watts Up. In case you’re unfamiliar with this product, it’s a stick cream highlighter. It leans more to the pinkish side. Watts Up emphasizes my cheekbones ten times more, blends easily, AND is easy to use.

L’Oreal True Match Stick Concealer. With 6 shades to match your skin color, it provides creamy and medium coverage. It worked best on my undereye circles rather than blemishes. It tend to slip and slide on zits and pimples. However, it does settle in fine lines easily.

Korres Volcanic Ash Volumizing Mascara. Since I like more of a wet formula when it comes to mascara, the dryer consistency didn’t impress me at first. But as I used it more, I began to see how thick my lashes looked. With dryish clumps, it def took me by surprise. Also, I didn’t see it smudge at all during school and track.

True Blue Shea Cashmere Hand Cream. I wash my hands every time I apply my makeup in the morning. It leaves my hands kind of dry. This was a lifesaver! It left my hands so soft! And it smelled delicious. For some reason, the blue tube is better than the red…

Haul (MAC, e.l.f, Nars) 1/10/12

Sorry, but this picture looks like shit. My flash was somewhere else, colors are all washed out, but once again I’m sorry!

Lady Gaga Fame Perfume (1/7 oz.) This was a birthday from my mom and I’ve been wanting this since forever. Yay!

Revlon Nail Polish in Silver Screen. It looks like my fingers are made out of dimes and nickels. And it only takes 2 coats, extra brownie points.

MAC lipstick in See Sheer. It’s a very wearable color that’s inbetween pink and a light red.

MAC lipstick in Hot Tahiti. A light, blue-based red tht comes off lighter than seen in the tube.

Bare Minerals Fired Up palette. Comes with a rosy-berry blush, a mini eyelid prime called Prime Time, two matte shadows, two shimmery, small blush brush, double-ended sponge applicator, Round the Clock Waterproof eyeliner in Midnight, and a lipgloss in Marvelous moxie.

NARS Casino. It’s much darker than the well-known  Laguna. But since I have medium skin, a darker bronzer is needed to contour.

E.l.f. Eyelash Curler. For only $1, my eyelashes look ten times better.

MAC Blacktrack Fluidline. I actually forgot to include it in he picture. But it is a creamy matte, black gel liner. It’s can be easily applied with an angled brush.

Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Review

Lets start off with the packaging. The spout dispenser is on the bottom of the bottle. There is no cap to cover the spout, just an opening . Not my favorite.

It smells very good like virgin pina coladas- yummyness . After my first use, I actually didn’t like it and didn’t see any improvement. However, over time, my hair improved a lot whenever I used it. My hair was glossier, less tangled, and less frizzy everything I used it.

I really like this product because of its formulation, scent, and the affordable price of $3.49. Grade A-

Kat Von D True Romance Palettein Saint

image

For $36, you get many things… 8 shimmery shadows, mini Autograph eyeliner, and a magnified mirror. The packaging does not get very dirty and very little space is wasted. However, the spine to this compact is flimsy and does not stay.image

Overall, the shadows are a great value. What you see in the palette is what you get on your eyes. For the most part, these eight shadows are just as pigmented as the ones in the NAKED palettes. They’re very buttery and soft which can lead to a lot of “crumble”. I dont really mind, as long as I just tap my brush. The lighter colors may have some fallout due to the microglitters. Great quality.

They eyeliner is also a nice addition to have. It is a matte, jet black that looks great on the waterline. It tends to smudge when applied on the lower waterline, but it has great longevity. When I come out of the shower, it is still apparent.

This palette gets a grade A. The shadows are so wonderful. If you want a cheaper alternative to the NAKED palettes, this would be great. It also allows you to try more things in the Kat Vond D line. I also like how it’s a magnified mirror which is nice when going on vacation. Grade A.

Christmas Haul 2012

Sorry that this is kind of late, but hope you enjoy. Huge haul coming soon! image

Sephora Lash Stash. I looooove these mascaras. You get two full-sized, 8 minis, and some falsies. Amazing deal for $45.

Victoria Secret Body Mist in Love Spell. So delicious and girly. Thank you Priyanka.

Forever 21 owl necklace. It’s not that noticeable, but it’s that gold lil cluster. So cute with the pearls.

Forever 21 sweater and long-sleeve knit. This isn’t included in the picture, but I still really like them.

Bath & Body Works Body Mists in Fresh Vanilla, Cashmere Glow, Pink Chiffon, and Twilight Woods.

Clinique Chubby Stick. I have this weird obsession of jumbo stick lip products, but it’s great though.

Too Faced Shadows Bon Bon palette. So many great neutrals with a mini Candlelight Shadow Insurance and a full-sized Lashgasm Mascara. Satches coming up.

Sephora Blinged Palette. This is really nice to take for traveling. It comes with at least 6 lip glosses, blush, and 8 beautifully pigmented shadows. Cute packaging.

Kat Von D True Romance palette in Saint. I love this so much!!!! I have swatches coming up!

Wet Seal wallet. I honestly needed a new wallet and this was just an icing on the cake.

Also not included was this bracelet from Costa Rica, gift cards from Sephora and Forever 21, etc.

Forgot eye primer? Solution!

Eye primer is vital in my daily makeup routine. If you forgot to bring some, you can always use a pencil eyeliner instead. If you’re using light eyeshadows or just a crease color, a white eyeliner is suitable. For taupe and blacks, black eyeliner . Brown eyeliner for the browns, etc.
All you have to do it is color in your lids with the pencil, doesn’t have to be neat. Make sure it’s opaque. Then, just smudge it across with your fingers to smooth it out. Keep doing it if you want the color to be more faded. You now have a beautiful prepared slate.

Hiatus.

Reply to makeupforall1: First makeup products

The first time I used makeup was almost last year during eighth grade. I think I spent around $28 as well. It was Maybelline Instant Age Rewind foundation, wetn wild eye pencils , and Maybelline Falsies Mascara.

Different Ways to Apply Foundation

Fingers- The fastest, simplest, and easiest way to apply foundation. I use my fingers whenever I wake up late and have very little time. However, it distributes foundation unevenly. Some parts of your face may have less coverage, while other parts may be cakey.

Beauty blender sponges- My new favorite way. When the sponge is damp, it picks up a good amount of foundation. Dabbing the sponge in short, fast motion will create a flawless appearance. Basically, foundation is being pressed into your pores. Cleaning these sponges are a pain though.

Brush- This allows you to control how much foundation you want, natural to full coverage. But it takes longer than sponges and fingers. Stipple, foundation, buffing, flat tops- the varieties are endless. If you ever see brush strokes, you can smooth it out with a wedge or your fingers.
